Terrain: Lakebeds are very smooth hardpack dirt, outside the lakebeds are sandy and rocky
Skill Level: Lakebed is easy and great for learning, but anything outside the lakebed becomes intermediate to difficult
Scenery: Not very scenic, mostly open flat desert terrain
General Weather: Potential for high winds, hot in the summer and moderate in the winter
Amenities: Restrooms and garbage cans, no running water
Forest Pass: Yes
Lucerne Valley is over 20,000 acres of open OHV terrain. The dry lake beds are great
for learning, and are about 2 miles long by 1 mile wide of perfectly flat terrain.
Once off the lakebeds, the terrain is very sandy with some rocky hills. Mostly desert
terrain without marked trails, you can ride in any direction for as far as you can see.

from Orange County
- 15N through Cajon Pass
- Exit Bear Valley road
- Turn right, continue on Bear Valley road until highway 247.
- Turn right onto highway 247, continue until you see signs for Johnson Valley OHV area
- 1st entrance is Camp Rock road, 2nd entrance is Bessemer Mine road, 3rd entrance is Boone road.
